Spirit of Stone Workshop
June 19-22, 2019
This year I will be offering a soapstone workshop in beautiful Oregon. New and experienced sculptors alike will find an opportunity to considerably heighten their skill level and insight. No previous experience is necessary.
This is a 20 studio-hour workshop. It will be familiar for those who have carved with me before. I have found there is a large learning curve in the first couple of stone sculptures we create. Expanding into this classic 3D art form and experiencing the whole carving process always encourages confidence and creativity. It is so exciting to see this steep learning curve in action. We will start with approximately a five-pound piece of raw soap stone. We will learn stone sculpting skills and techniques to include the carving process from beginning to end. We will be using hand tools with the option of limited Dremel use. This workshop is intended to produce a uniquely finished, individually-designed, and personal soap stone sculpture. Enjoy a meditative intensive creative opportunity in a supportive learning community.

Lodging & Meals
Camping is included at the workshop location. Sally and Jim have offered their beautiful, park-like property to those of us who would like to camp. Eugene is just 20 miles down the road with other lodging options. Although meals are not included, we like to have fun and co-create in the kitchen or we may choose to go out together for lunch or dinner.

Learn Stone Sculpting skills and techniques. Each participant will personally design and complete a hand-held, intimate sculpture made of soapstone. Instruction will include all steps of the carving process from beginning to end. All tools and materials will be provided.
