I have ZERO experience with any types or art or crafts, so I was a little intimidated signing up for the Alabaster sculpting class. The small class size and great instruction really helped introduce me to sculpting. I had a great time and am pleased with the fish you helped me to find in my rock. Now, I have my fish sculpture on my mantle.
I have been participating in stone carving workshops with Lisa for seven years. I have found her to be an excellent teacher. With every class, I learn more — new techniques and different ways to use tools. When encountering a design problem or making sense out of chaos, her advice and suggestions spark new directions, help focus my attention where it needs to be and enables me to get my sculpture to the place I want it to be. I highly recommend her as a teacher.
“It was eight years ago at the Tennessee Arts Academy in Nashville where I first met Lisa and she invited me to participate in her summer stone sculpture class. As I recall, her exact words were, “Come play this summer”. That experience has changed my life as I have not yet stopped carving!I attribute this to Lisa’s enthusiasm, patience, knowledge, experience, wisdom, and generosity that makes the difference. Lisa’s one on one guidance with attention to concept, form, tools, and problem solving makes the process exciting and very satisfying. Daily critiques and thought provoking discussions are also part of her teaching as well as building strong student connections. Lisa is an all around excellent A+ teacher who has helped instill in me a deep love and respect for stone.”
